President Donald Trump snapped at reporters upon his arrival in Scotland when questioned about the ongoing controversy surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein files, insisting they discuss something else.
“Mr. President, were you ever briefed on your name appearing in the files?” one reporter asked.
“No, I was never, never briefed, no,” Trump replied curtly.
When asked about the Justice Department’s decision to question convicted Epstein sex trafficking accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, he responded, “I really have no, really nothing to say about it.” Trump added that Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche is a “very smart” and “very good” man, and emphasized, “this is no time” to discuss whether Maxwell might receive a pardon.
“You’re making a very big thing over something that’s not a big thing,” Trump said. “You should be talking about — if you’re going to talk about that, talk about [Bill] Clinton, talk about the former president of Harvard, talk about all of his friends. Talk about the hedge fund guys that were with him all the time. Don’t talk about Trump.”
He then shifted to highlight his administration’s successes: “What you should be talking about is the fact that we have the greatest six months in the history of a presidency, according to a lot of people. And we had an amazing six months.”
Another reporter attempted to question him about Republicans in Congress avoiding a resolution to compel the release of the Epstein files from the Justice Department.
“I was never, I was never involved in that,” Trump said sharply. “I’m focused on making deals. I’m not focused on conspiracy theories that you are. I mean, I watch you people. It’s, it’s so sad. You ought to talk about the success of our country instead of this nonsense that you talk about over and over again.”
