Prince William is choosing to keep calm and carry on.

People magazine reported on Monday that the Prince of Wales will return to work after taking time off to care for his wife Kate Middleton.

The 41-year-old will take over for his father, King Charles III, at the morning inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, the source said. The British monarch, 75, is also recovering from surgery to treat an enlarged prostate.

The heir to the throne will pay tribute to a number of members of the public and other celebrities, as well as attend a fundraising gala for the London Air Ambulance, the source said.

Jonathan Jenkins, CEO of London’s Air Ambulance Charity, said: “Prince William really understands our work and knows that every second counts in an emergency.”

“We know that with his help and the continued support of the public, our team can reach those who need it most – serving Londoners 24 hours a day, every day of the year,” he said. “We are delighted that he will be joining us at our 2024 gala event.”

William was an air ambulance pilot in East Anglia for around two years. Since then, he has used his platform to raise awareness of the work of air ambulance crews and other emergency services. He became a patron of the organisation four years ago.

William recently took some time off work to support his wife, who left the London Clinic last Monday after nearly two weeks of care following abdominal surgery. William is understood to have been watching their three children: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, at their family home, Adelaide Cottage, on the grounds of Windsor Castle. Their long-time nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, was also present.

A source told People magazine that Middleton’s parents and siblings all live about a 40-minute drive away.

“Her parents are a long-term part of raising their children,” a palace insider told the outlet. “And they will be a reassuring presence when she returns to Windsor to recover.”

William has been keeping busy amid the controversy that has rocked the palace. After Middleton’s surgery, journalist Concha Calleja alleged on the popular Spanish news show “Fiesta” that the princess was in a coma due to health complications, the UK’s Sunday Times reported.

“The doctors had to make drastic decisions at that point because of the complications that could arise,” Calleja said. “The decision was to put her in a coma. They had to intubate her. There were serious complications that they didn’t expect because the surgery went well, but the post-operative period didn’t go well.”

The newspaper noted that Calleja alleged that the 42-year-old woman was at one point in “great danger” and that “almost an entire hospital” had been set up at her home. Other Spanish outlets have reported on Calleja’s claims.

A palace source later vehemently denied the report, calling it “complete nonsense.”

“That journalist made no attempt to fact-check anything she said to anyone in the family,” the source said. “It was basically a complete fabrication, and I’ll use polite English here: It was absolutely not true.”

Spokespeople for Kensington Palace and Calleja did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment.

Kensington Palace previously told Fox News Digital that Middleton had returned home after nearly two weeks in hospital.

“The Prince and Princess would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the entire team at the London Clinic, in particular the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided,” the statement read. “The Wales family continue to be grateful for the well-wishes they have received from around the world.”

Kinsey Schofield, host of the podcast “To Di For Daily,” told Fox News Digital that the royal’s recovery is going smoothly and she’s staying busy at home.

“I heard that the Princess of Wales did respond to the email, but everything was arranged so that she would not be overwhelmed or disturbed by the incoming conversation,” Schofield said.

“Kate is not a rule breaker,” Schofield said. “She will follow the doctor’s orders but join in when she can, so she doesn’t feel left behind. I don’t expect to see her in an official capacity until Easter, but I believe she will be engaged behind the scenes.”

Sources told Schofield that Middleton has received plenty of support at home from her husband, their three children and countless royal followers wishing her a speedy recovery.

“Catherine is a very loving and affectionate parent, so the family would be very much lacking without her,” Schofield explains. “She is also very disciplined, which can be comforting for younger children. They like their routine.”

“I have seen some great campaigns online to send well wishes to the princess,” Schofield continued. “I believe her office would be delighted to receive such a positive response and will most likely be overwhelmed with cards and loving messages. They will pass on as many as they can to the princess and the offices will respond with thanks to all those who have written.”

On January 17, the palace revealed the princess had undergone “planned abdominal surgery” at the London Clinic the previous day.

“The operation was successful and she is expected to remain in hospital for 10 to 14 days before returning home to continue her recovery,” a palace statement said at the time. “Based on current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to official duties until after Easter.”

While the royal family has not provided a recent update on Middleton’s recovery, Kensington Palace shared that she was “making good progress” when she was discharged from the hospital on January 29.

On Sunday, the king was seen in public with his wife, Queen Camilla. It was his first public appearance since leaving the London Clinic following surgery. The couple headed to church in Sandringham, where the king appeared in good spirits and waved to well-wishers.
