Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku has sent a warning to rivals writing them off in the Premier League title race. The Belgium international has stated that his side will ignore external criticism and focus on winning as many games as possible.

Manchester City hit a new low in the 2024-25 Premier League season as they lost four consecutive league matches for the first time since August 2008. Given their terrible run of form and growing gap between them and leaders Liverpool, many fans and pundits started to rule Manchester City out of the title race.

Pep Guardiola’s men, however, returned to winning ways on Wednesday with a 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium. Bernardo Silva (8′), Kevin De Bruyne (31′), and Doku (57′) were on the scoresheet for the Cityzens.

After the victory against Forest, Jeremy Doku fired a stern warning to those ruling them out of the title race after their recent poor run of form. He told journalist Richard Martin (via Fabrizio Romano):

“We’re still in December… If they think the Premier League title race is over, let them think it’s over. We are going to look game by game, try to win as much as possible. We will see at the end!”

Doku has scored three goals and provided three assists in 15 appearances for the Cityzens this term. Manchester City are placed fourth in the league table, nine points behind Liverpool.

Jeremy Doku says Manchester City striker was not really happy after 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest

After the win against Forest, Doku stated that his Manchester City teammate Erling Haaland wasn’t entirely happy as he failed to get on the scoresheet. The Norwegian striker provided the assist for Doku’s goal in the encounter.

While Haaland is currently second in the Premier League scoring charts this season, his goal-scoring form has declined lately. His last goal for City in the league was on November 9 against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Doku said after the match (via GOAL):

“He just said congrats. Obviously, it’s normal. He’s an attacker, he wants the ball. I try to look for him, this action I shot, maybe it was a goal or a miss. Today was a goal. Erling is not a striker who is happy. He’s knows he can’t get every ball so just wants to be in the best position. It’s unlucky he didn’t pick up a goal but you saw how important he was today.”

Haaland has scored 17 goals and provided one assist in 20 appearances for City this term.
