Ariana Grande opted not to attend the 2025 Grammys this awards season.

Grande, 31, was nominated for best pop duo/group performance “The Boy Is Mine” with Brandy and Monica, best pop vocal album for Eternal Sunshine, and best dance pop recording for “Yes, And?”.

Despite Grande’s three nominations, fans of the pop star were disappointed with the Recording Academy because the Sweetener singer wasn’t nominated for the any of the general categories, including album of the year, record of the year and song of the year.

Although she didn’t attend the Recording Academy’s awards show, she did attend the 2025 Golden Globe Awards in early January after receiving a nomination for her work in Wicked as Galinda Upland. Additionally, her Wicked co-star, Cynthia Erivo, is in attendance at the Feb. 2 ceremony.

Erivo is at the awards show to pay tribute to Quincy Jones in a performance alongside Lainey Wilson, Jacob Collier, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock and Janelle Monáe.

Grande recently teased a deluxe version of Eternal Sunshine, telling Variety, “It’s a very special project.”

“I’m out there so much right now. I want to let my children miss me for two seconds. I’m excited to surprise them with it at some point, but I’m still mulling over the timing in my head. It’s not the end of ‘Peaches’ just yet, but she’s going in the closet for a minute,” Grande said.

Grande has been vocal about staying focused on her acting pursuits and told Variety she decided not to tour her recent album.

“I was considering a mini-tour between the Wicked films, but I’ve decided to prioritize acting for now,” she said. “Performing will always be a part of my life, but I want to focus on this chapter of storytelling through film.”

As Grande’s acting pursuits remain steadfast, she received her first career Oscar nomination for her work in Wicked.

Following the nomination, she posted on Instagram, “picking my head up in between sobs to say thank you so much to @theacademy for this unfathomable recognition. i cannot stop crying, to no one’s surprise,” Grande wrote. “I’m humbled and deeply honored to be in such brilliant company and sharing this with tiny ari who sat and studied Judy Garland singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow just before the big, beautiful bubble entered. i’m so proud of you, tiny.”

The Grammys are broadcasting live on CBS from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and streaming on Paramount+.
