Lionel Messi has allegedly asked Inter Miami to sign ex-Barcelona forward Neymar with club president David Beckham already opening talks to make a potential deal happen.
Inter Miami, who won their maiden Major League Soccer (MLS) Supporters’ Shield last month, have been on the rise over the past 12 months. However, their season ended with a shock 3-2 MLS Cup playoff loss to Atlanta United in Miami earlier this Saturday (November 9).
As a result, according to Spanish news website El Nacional, Messi has asked Inter Miami’s board to reunite him with Neymar in the future. The Brazilian is believed to be keen to leave Al-Hilal and join the MLS outfit.

Beckham, who oversaw the transfer that brought Messi to the Herons in 2023, has already initiated talks with Neymar’s camp over a possible move. He is prepared to offer the ex-Barcelona star a sizeable contract.
Neymar, who recently picked up a hamstring injury while playing for Al-Hilal, has a deal until June 2025 at his current club. He could move to Inter Miami to extend his record of playing alongside Messi 206 times.
Should the former Barcelona star join Inter Miami next year, he could prove to be a shrewd signing. Apart from raising the level of the club’s squad, he would also help the Herons earn cash from commercial deals.
Club chief hopeful about Lionel Messi’s former Barcelona teammate rejoining Brazilian outfit
Santos executive director Marcio Calves has revealed his wish to witness Neymar in action at his former club after his recent injury at Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. He said (h/t GOAL):
“There are no official negotiations with Neymar at the moment, but his return to our club is every fan’s dream. His relationship with Santos is wonderful. He started his career here and the possibility of his return depends on his desire and his performance with Al-Hilal.”
Sharing further thoughts on the ex-Barcelona star, Calves added:
“I believe 60% that Neymar will join us when his contract with Al-Hilal ends. He can accept leaving because he loves Santos and is thinking about going to the 2026 World Cup.”
