Hurricane Milton is approaching Florida, USA. Milton has become a Category 5 hurricane after forming in the Gulf of Mexico. With winds of 270 km/h, Milton has surpassed the minimum threshold of Category 5 on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale and become the strongest hurricane in the Atlantic since Hurricane Dorian in 2019. In addition, the storm’s barometric pressure has dropped to 897 millibars, making Milton one of the strongest hurricanes ever recorded. At the same time, Milton is considered the strongest hurricane on the planet in 2024. 

According to the US National Hurricane Center, Milton will make landfall on the west coast of Florida and continue moving through central Florida into the Atlantic Ocean. The eye of the storm and its circulation will pose a danger to a large area. President Joe Biden himself said that this could be one of the worst storms to hit Florida in 100 years. That says a lot about the terrible devastation this super storm can cause. US authorities are racing against time to evacuate people from the danger zone.

“If they decide to stay in one of the areas they are being asked to evacuate, they will die,” Tampa Mayor Jane Castor told CNN in a strongly worded statement. US authorities announced mandatory evacuations in all counties, areas frequented by tourists such as Cedar Key, Clearwater, Sarasota, Siesta Key, Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Captiva, Sanibel, and voluntary evacuations in Naples and Marco Island.
