Scarlett Johansson has come under fire for her ‘awful’ British accent in her new movie, My Mother’s Wedding.
The actress, 40, is set to star in the new film alongside Sienna Miller, 43, and Kristin Scott Thomas, 65. Scarlett plays Katherine Frost, a British lesbian Royal Navy officer in a longtime relationship with a woman named Jack (played by Freida Pinto).
After a new trailer from the upcoming film released, fans were left unimpressed by her accent.

Critics have shared their thoughts on social media, with one person writing: ‘I love Scarlett but my god that British accent is bad.’
Another said: ‘is Scarlett’s British accent good? No. No, not really. Will I be sat enjoying every second of My Mother’s Wedding? Yes. Yes, I will be.’
‘Definitely going to watch My Mother’s Wedding but I’m very nervous about the accent’, a third said.
A fourth person chimed in: ‘I’m sorry, Scarlett Johansson’s accent is AWFUL.’

Sienna’s character is Victoria, a Hollywood actor known for franchise dreck and short-lived relationships.
The movie marks Kristin’s directorial debut. She also stars in the movie as Sienna and Scarlett’s on-screen mother Diana.
The upcoming film follows three sisters who return to their childhood home for the third wedding of their mother Diana.
Before Kristin turned 12, she lost her father and stepfather, both were Royal Navy pilots who died in crashes. Kristin used these facts, a kind of origin story, as the basis for My Mother´s Wedding, a comedic drama about family, trauma and getting on with it.

A synopsis for the movie reads: ‘Three sisters return to their home for the third wedding of their twice-widowed mother.
‘But the mother and daughters are forced to revisit the past and confront the future, with help from a colorful group of unexpected wedding guests.’
My Mother’s Wedding was first shown at the in September 2023 at Toronto International Film Festival with the name North Star.
The movie name has now been changed for its release date.
